Marina beach lies to the east of Chennai at Kamarajar road, near to the Citi Centre. The fine sandy beach and is the longest beach in India. It extends to a length of 13Km,from Fort St.George all the way to Mahabalipuram.
At the beach is the famous Anna Park dedicated to the former chief minister of TamilNadu. The park is adorned with statues of famous Tamil writers and sages etc. There are food stalls, hawkers and other entertainers line the beach.
Further south is an aquarium that has an extensive collection of tropical sea fishes and fresh water fishes. To the south of the Aquarium is the historic Ice House (1840) which was used to store ice brought from England and America for 30 years. Later in 1982, it became a home to Swami Vivekananda and the name was changed to Vivekananda house.
